In Borrego Springs, one of the very first resorts was the Hoberg Resort, which was a holiday home for many of Hollywood's biggest stars of the 50's and 60's. Including: Burgess Meredith, Gale Gordon, Charles Laughton, Leo Carrillo, Andy Devine, Lon Chaney, Jr., Will Rogers, Bing Crosby, John Wayne, James Arness, Frank Morgan and Marilyn Monroe. That resort is now known as The Palms at Indian Head. 

Burgess Meredith, loved de Anza and Borrego so much that he took up residence on our back nine. 

Several Hollywood productions have even taken place in Borrego such as the movie "Bugsy" which featured Warren Betty and the TV show "The X-Files" which featured two episodes in Anza-Borrego Desert. Other productions include; The Desert Fox 1951, The Desert Rat 1953, The Scorpion King 2002.

In 1959, de Anza Desert Club hosted a Celebrity ProAm which included the 1959 Ryder Cup teams (England and USA) and other celebrities like Bing Crosby & Phil Harris.
